Charles F Werth Stanton Pioneer Taken By Death
Well Know and Popular Resident Dies Following Lingering Illness
Death claims Charles F Worth, 68, prominent farmer and stockman of Stanton township and resident here since boyhood at his home near Neptune Sunday (January 26, 1936) morning, following a long illness due to diabetes. Mr. Worth had been in falling health for three years.
Mr, Werth was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Werth who were among the early settles in Plymouth, locating in Stanton township in the seventies. Charles F Werth was born in Germany May 7, 1867, and when a child came to America with his parents who settled near Waukesha, Wisconsin, where they lived for nine years and then came to Plymouth county.
Charles received his education in the rural schools and assisted his father on the farm. He was united in marriage March 27. 1895, with Miss Anna Rents, member of another pioneer family in the same neighborhood. On their marriage they established home in Stanton township and successfully.
To this union two sons were born, one of them dying in infancy.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and son, William and a granddaughter. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters, William J., Albert and Herman Werth, Mrs. C. T. Kohl and Mrs. John McDougall. His death is regretted by old and staunch friends all over the county. Mr.Werth was a find citizen and neighbor. He was always considerate of others and was kindly and accomplished good deeds without ostentation. He was a devoted husband and father, and well liked in social circles. When a youth he joined the Evangelical church and was a constant member and church attendant.
Funeral on Wednesday
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 1:30 PM from the house and at 2 o’clock in the Lincoln township church. Rev. J A Torgler officiating and interment made in the Lincoln township cemetery.
