Carl Albert Jahn was born in Kingsley, Iowa Nov. 6, 1918. He passed away peacefully in his sleep Dec. 23, 2016, at the age of 98.

He was the oldest child of Albert and Martha(Albers)Jahn. Carl grew up on a farm in Iowa and graduated from the eighth grade at Elkhorn Township in 1933. After leaving school, he continued to work on his parents' farm. He married his true love, Luella Josephine Wetrosky, Jan. 14, 1940, in Kingsley, Iowa. Together they had six children: Gayle, Janice, Janet, Betty, Carl, and Bonnie.

In December 1958, hoping to make a better life for his family, Carl moved them to a small farm near Sunnyside, where he farmed, worked at a chicken hatchery and later worked for Libby's until his retirement.

After retirement, Carl and Luella moved to Moses Lake, where the fishing was good. They later relocated near Inchelium, where the fishing was better.

Carl enjoyed his retirement, hunting, fishing, and canning fruits, vegetables and fish with his wife by his side. He loved listening to country music, dancing with his wife to the Polka, and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. He loved going to the Inchelium meal site and dancing to the music when the locals were playing their fiddles and guitars.
Carl and Luella also liked to do a little traveling, going to such places as Yellowstone National Park, the Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, and back to Iowa.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Luella; by an infant son, Gayle; by his daughter, Janice; grandson, Gerald Gorence Jr.; his son-in-law, Roger Conant, and his sister, Erma Swan.

He is survived by daughters, Janet Schreiber (Richard) of Moses Lake; Betty Conant of Chelan; Bonnie Mares (Lionel) of Mabton; son, Carl of Sunnyside; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Ervan Jahn of Sheldon, Iowa; God-daughter, Kay Wimmer of Kingsley, and several nieces and nephews.

A Rosary Vigil will be held Friday, Dec. 30 at St. Michaels Mission in Inchelium at 10 a.m. Mass will follow at 11 a.m.

Burial will be at Hall Creek Cemetery at noon, with a luncheon to follow in the Fellowship Hall. There will be a continental breakfast before the Rosary Vigil for those who would like to come early.

A special thank you to all of Carl's wonderful caregivers and friends in the Inchelium area who made it possible for him to live at home.
