Brenda Sue Sjovall, 42, of Beresford, South Dakota, formerly of Le Mars, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 after a three and a half year battle with cancer.
Brenda was born to David and Ramona (Heeren) Ludwigs on April 11, 1974 in Le Mars. She attended school in Le Mars, graduating from Le Mars Community High School in 1992. She married Jeremy Sjovall on April 22, 1994 in Le Mars. The couple lived in Elk Point, South Dakota, later moving to an acreage near Beresford, South Dakota.
Brenda attended Le Mars Beauty College, graduating in October 1996.
She and Jeremy were blessed with a daughter, Cassidy, on April 24, 2001.
Brenda earned her medical transcription certificate from Western Iowa Tech Community College. She worked doing medical transcription for many years. In July of 2013, Brenda was diagnosed with cancer. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life — nature, music, attending concerts, being a housewife and mother to Cassidy.
Brenda’s life will always be cherished, loved and honored by her family which include her husband Jeremy and daughter Cassidy of Beresford; parents David and Ramona Ludwigs, Le Mars; sister Sheila Ludwigs, Le Mars; parents-in-law Jim and Carol Sjovall, Sioux City; brothers-in-law Justin (Alison) Sjovall, Cranston, Rhode Island and Jay Sjovall, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Brenda may be gone, but the ones we love never truly leave us!
A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m., Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. The Rev. Greg Myrmoe will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., Sunday with the family present from 4-8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Monday.
