MRS. LELA BAKER CALLED BY DEATH FRIDAY MORNING

Had Made Home Here For The Past Seventeen Years

The final summons came last Friday morning to Mrs. Lela Belle Baker, mother of Mrs. Fred Dirks, at Akron Hospital Nursing Home, after an extended illness, aged 82 years, 9 months, and 9 days.

Lela Belle Davis was born March 5, 1883, daughter of Jacob and Mary Davis, near Hudson, South Dakota. There she was married to Arthur E. Baker, September 11, 1901, and two sons and two daughters came to bless their union.

Preceding her in death was her husband in June, 1939, at Woonsocket, S.D., ad a daughter Mrs. Lorabel Markwart, in December, 1947, in Portland, Ore.

Mrs. Baker lived in Arizona a few years, but came back to Iowa and lived in Akron the past seventeen years.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter--Clifford L., of Portland Ore.; Haroold L., of Norfolk, Nebr., and Mrs. Fred (Bernice) Dirks, of Akron; 11 grandchildren; nine great-gradchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Their many friends extend sympathy in their bereavement.

Funeral services Monday afteroon in Schroeder Funeral Home were conducted by Rev. D. J. Roy, pastor of Immanue Lutheran church. Mrs. Hugh Swift was vocalist and Mrs. Orin Harris was pianist. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
