HOME BLAZE TAKES LIFE OF A. BAKER

Was A Lifelong Resident Of The Akron Community

Mentioned briefly in these columns last weak was the tragic death of Alanson Baker, who was trapped in a early morning fire which destroyed his home at the southwest edge of town on Wednesday, Dec. 18. His wife, Lottie, was able to escape from the blazing building through a window, but was unabe to rescue him.

Alanson was born in Akron, July 4, 1880, of pioneer parents, Aanson and Mary Elizabeth George Baker, and attained the age of 83 years, 5 months and 14 days. He spent his entire life on the farm homesteaded by his father in early pioneer days. During youth he attended Akron public school, the university of South Dakota, Vermillion, and Iowa State Univeersity, Ames. He engaged in farming with his father. On September 15, 1915, he was united in marriage wit Lottie Waterbury in Akron, and to this union was born two daughters.

Alanson Baker was possessed of a genial personality and always took keen interest in the trend of events and firm in his sense of right and wrong. He will be missed, in the wide circle of friends made through the years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church all his life.

Surviving are his wife, Lottie; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabet Westadt, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Charlotte Hardy of Columbus, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Erline Westadt and Sharolyn Hardy; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Talbott, of Akron; and nephews and nieces.

Precedig him in deat were his parents and one sister, Avis.

Graveside services were hold at Riverside Cemetery, Tuesday at 11:i00 a.m., Rev. Michael Strom of the First Baptist church officiating.
