John Henry Ommen of 15 ½ 1st avenue northeast, LeMars passed away July 22 at Sacred Heart hospital in LeMars. He had been ailing for a year and had been hospitalized for ten days.
Mr. Ommen was born April 13, 1891 in Grant township, Le Mars and was a retired farmer who worked in a lumber yard for a number of years. He had made his home in Plymouth county except for about five years spent in South Dakota.
He was the son of Henry W Ommen and Antke Rolapp Ommen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 24 at 2 pm. at St. John's American Lutheran in LeMars. Rev. L.L Belk will officiate. Burial will be in St John's Lutheran Cemetery at Craig, under direction of the Mauer funeral home.
Survivors include his children; Mrs. Robert (Vere) Paswalk , Hawthorne California) Mrs. Gerald (Bernice) Henrich Akron; Erwin and Melvin of Garden City, South Dakota, Donald of St. Charles, Illinois. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
Also surviving are a brother, Henry of LeMars; five sisters, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Lubben , LeMars Mrs. Dick (Katherine ) Asslen, LeMars; Mrs. Art (Tena) Knoor of LeMars and Mrs. Henry (Anna ) Oltmanns of Ireton and Mrs. Geo. (Lena) Foxen of LeMars.
He was preceded in death by two infant daughters; a son, Henry in world war two; three brothers and a sister.
