As a result of blood poison causing tetanus or lock jaw, Oscar, the seventeen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Stephens, passed away Thursday morning at 1:12 o’clock. Oscar was born in Lincoln township April 11, 1891. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Stephens, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. J. Luckson, Mrs. Wm. Stephens, Edward and John Stephens, all of this locality, and a number of aunts uncle and cousins. The funeral services were held Sunday a.m. at ten o’clock from the M. E. church in Hinton and the body laid to rest in the Lincoln cemetery. Rev. E. A. Bennett officiated. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Stephens have many friends who unite with them in sorrow over the loss of their son. -- Le Mars Sentinel, Tuesday, April 7, 1908, page 2, column 5
