FATAL ACCIDENT. On last Thursday morning, John C. Little left our depot about 7 o’clock on a hand car going west, and in less than one hour was brought back a lifeless, mangled corpse. A coroners jury was immediately summoned to examine into the reason of the casualty, and the following is the verdict: “At an inquest holden in Le Mars, Plymouth County, Iowa, on the 18th day of July, A.D. 1876, before A. In testimony whereof, the said jurors have hereto set their hands, the day and year aforesaid. N. L. GREER, C.P. WOODARD, JOHN DENNING, ALBERT A. ALLINE, J.P., Acting Coroner.
Mr. Little was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad Company, and occupied the position of road master for the last four years. He possessed a fair share of executive ability and was a valuable officer. He amassed some property and leaves his widow and three children with a comfortable home. He was a good citizen, a kind husband and indulgent parent, and had many friends, who have great sympathy for the bereaved widow and fatherless children. - The Iowa Liberal, Wednesday, July 19, 1876, page 1, column 3
