WM. H. RAVER DIES TUESDAY AT HOME OF HIS DAUGHTER

Had Resided In This Vicinity Sixty Years; Rites Held Thursday

Wm. H. Raver, a resident of Akron vicinity for the past sixty years, passed away Tuesday noon, February 7, 1950, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Claassen, at the advanced age of 89 years, 4 months and 2 days. He had been in failing health for some time.

William Henry Raver was born October 5, 1860, at Niagara Falls, New York, where he grew to young manhood. He came to Akron in the year 1890 and farmed in this vicinity for a good many years. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Wilson on July 3, 1894. Two daughters came to bless their union. His wife preceded him in death on May 10, 1912.

Left to mourn his departure are the two daughters, Mrs. Francis Boden, of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Henry Claassen, of Akron; four grandchildren, Mrs. E. L. Harris, of Casper, Wyo.; Mrs. John Starbuck, of San Diego, Calif.; Jean and Jacqueline Claassen, of Akron, and one great-granddaughter, Jane Starbuck.

A man of sterling character and pleasant personality, he numbered his friends by his acquaintances.

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist church here at 2:00 o’clock this (Thursday) afternoon, conducted by Rev. Orville N. Nelson, pastor of the Methodist church. A male quartet sang. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Funeral services for William H. Raver, 89, longtime Union county, S. D., resident who died at Akron Tuesday, were to be Thursday at the Akron Baptist church.

Mr. Raver died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Henry Claassen of Akron, with whom he lived. He was a retired farmer and had resided in Union county for 60 years.

Survivors besides Mrs. Claassen are another daughter, Mrs. Frances Boden of Long Beach, Cal., four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
