ESTEEMED AKRON WOMAN CALLED BY DEATH LAST WEEK

Last Rites Are Held Here Saturday For Mrs. Carrie Simeon

Mrs. Carrie E. Simeon, an esteemed resident of this area for many years, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 1958, in a nursing home at Hawarden, Iowa, where she had been a patient the past several months, aged 86 years, 5 months, and 12 days.

Carrie E. Joy was born August 24, 1871, at Mason City, Iowa, and came to Elk Point, S. D., in early youth, living most of her life in that and Akron vicinity. She married Henry Raish at Elk Point, November 11, 1891, and they farmed for many years southwest of Akron in Union county, S. D. Mr. Raish died in 1914. On December 24, 1931, she married Wm. Simeon, of Akron, and he also preceded her in death.

Through her pleasant personality and kind and helpful nature, Mrs. Simeon gained a wide circle of friends.

Surviving are three sons, Edwin Raish, of St. Louis, Mo., and Herbert and Elmer Raish, both of Los Angeles; two daughters, Mrs. John L. (Bessie) Willer, of Akron, and Mrs. Doris Cooper, of Brampton, N. D.; a sister, Mrs. Matie Christenson, and a brother, Harlow Joy, both of Elk Point; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Clarence and Lester Raish, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Rossow Funeral Home in Akron, Rev. Charles Custer, of Hawarden Methodist church, officiating. Pallbearers were Percy Harrington, Lovay Lamoureux, Ross Root, Velton Barr, Victor Neal and Albert Von Hagel. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Joy and Barbara and Mrs. Matie Christenson, of Elk Point; Mrs. Carl Blanchard, of Richland, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. John Lilly, Salix, Iowa; Mrs. Fred Bertrand and Gordon, Larry Simeon, Vermillion, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Raish, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. D. L. Cooper, Brampton, N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Claassen, Fairview, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Waters, Ocheyedan, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. John Dirks and Marlys, Hawarden, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bliss, of Westfield.
