Mrs. Amelia Ahrens
Amelia Brinckmann was born in Bruehhof, in the state of Brunswig, Germany, Dec. 31, 1832, and died in Kingsley, Iowa, Feb. 15, 1914. Her age at death was 81 years, 1 month, 14 days.
She was united in marriage to Henry Ahrens in Grane, Germany, March 15, 1853. They came to America in the year 1856 settling in Yorkville, Kendle Co., Ill. Their children were all born in that state. Henry, of Sugar City, Col., Mrs. Albert Hempel, of Correctionville, Iowa, Charles W. of Wagner, S. D., George W. of Kingsley, Mrs. L. J. Riordan of Correctionville, August E., Mrs. Worth Case, Minnie C., of Kingsley, and Mrs. William Maurer of Kimball S.D.
The family moved to Kingsley, Iowa, in the year 1883 where the father and mother lived until removed by death.
The deceased was a devoted member of the German Lutheran church. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed when 14 years of age. Her husband preceded her to the spirit world by almost three years. He was in his 83 year, passing away Feb. 28, 1911.
The funeral service took place from the Congregation church Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock. The pastor Rev. Steele having charge. The body was laid to rest in the Kingsley cemetery.
