Alexander Harrison

Alex Harrison, a pioneer of Woodbury County, passed away Thursday at his home in Banner Township. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the home and were conducted by Rev. A. R. Lynn, pastor at the Reformed Church at Lawton. Internment was at the Lincoln Cemetery in Plymouth County.

Alexander Harrison was born June 28, 1843, and died May 18, 1922, aged 78 years, 10 months, 20 days. His childhood days were spent at Kalamazoo County, Michigan, but in 1876 he moved to Woodbury County, where he has resided, excepting brief intervals.

In 1864 he was joined in marriage with Mary Roe, and to this union were born three children, all of whom survive. They are Oscar Harrison and Mrs. Maggie Richardson, of Banner Township, and Layfeyette Harrison, of Cabool, Mo. His wife died Janury 12, 1909.

Four grandsons, Osmer, Carl, and Ben Harrison, Louis Richardson, and two nephews, Victor and Russell Harrison who acted as pall bearers.

Besides his three children, he is survived by two brothers Fred Harrison of Leeds, and Sam Harrison, of Saskatchewan, Canada, and eleven grandchildren.

Alexander Jordan Harrison was the son of Alexander Jordan Harrison and Elizabeth Jane Roe. He married Mary Em Roe on February 14, 1864 in Kalamzoo County, Michigan.
