Nicholas Barthole
Nicholas (Nick) Barthole, 83, of Kingsley died Thursday, March 30, 1989, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home where he had been a resident the past severl years.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley. Fr. Francis Staber officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Barb Carlson was the organist and Bob Woods san "Prayer of St. Francis" and "How Great Thou Art". Serving as casketbearers were Mike Woods, Chuck Woods, Brad Poeckes, Tom Poeckes, Jeff Barthole and Joe Barthole. Rosaries were recied on Friday at 4:0 p.m. and at 8:00 p.m. at the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home.
Mr. Barthole was born December 8, 1905, at Remsen, Ia. He grew up in the Remsen area and attended school there. He married Velma Trout on October 7, 1930, in Kingsley. They farmed in the Quimby, Kingsley and Correctionville areas until 1959 when they retired and moved to Kingsley. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Survivors are his wife, Velma, one son, Jerry of Pierson, three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Pat) Woods and Mrs. Art (Peg) Poeckes both of Kingsley and Mrs. Bill (Shirley) Heidesch of Remsen. Two brothers, Jack of Remsen and Raymond of Deer Park, WA., three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Frericks, of Wabasso, MN, Mrs., Margaret Holton of Le Mars and Mrs. Milt (Marie) Nussbaum of Alton, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
