==============

Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Andresen and family, east of town, were plunged into deep sorrow last Friday, June 2, 1916, by the death of their son and brother, Frank, aged nearly thirteen years. Two weeks ago last Saturday the boy was accidentally injured in one eye by the time of a pitchfork and was at once hurried to a hospital in Sioux City, where an operation on the eye and skilled treatment followed.

It appeared for a time that the sight of the eye would not be lost and the lad was able to be up and about. Three or four days before the end, however, a decided change for the worse appeared, with alarming symptoms, and the family was summoned to his bedside. As a result of injury to the optic nerve, spinal meningitis resulted and the child suffered intensely the last few days; but through it all he was patient and cheerful and during his last hours repeated his prayers and sang his Sunday school songs. The Angel of Mercy came to relieve his earthly sufferings at about 1:30 p.m. last Friday.

Frank Andreson was born July 25, 1903, in Union county, S. D., and soon thereafter his parents moved to a farm seven miles northeast of Akron, which has since remained the family home. Besides the parents, he is survived by five brothers and one sister--Ben, Herman, Charles, Andrew, Fred, and Anna. In this bereavement the family has the sympathy of many friends.

The remains were brought from Sioux City to the home last Saturday morning and the funeral was held in the Akron German Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. F. A. Meske officiating. There was a very large attendance and many beautiful floral offerings. The Sunday school, of which the deceased was a member, attended in a body and sang "Laaz mich Gehen." A long procession of friends accompanied the remains to Riverside cemetery, where interment was made.

Relatives present from a distance were: Ben Andresen, of Humboldt, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Garland Ellis, of Hawarden, and Mr. and Mrs. Simon Pelroy, of Elk Point.
