Remsen Man Dies Suddenly

Sheriff Frank Scholer and Coroner S. H. Luken were called this morning by a Remsen doctor who said a coroner was needed. They were called to the farm of John H. (Jack) Freking one-half north of Remsen where they found the body of the owner. Members of the family ascribed Mr. Freking's death to a lingering sickness.

Deceased was 50 years old and had been in poor health for some time, and mentally depressed. He had been to church at 8 a.m.

Coroner Luken ruled out the possibility of foul play. Remains were taken to the Fisch Funeral home. Friends may call there from Tuesday evening until service time.

Mr. Freking was born July 28, 1903, at Oyens, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Casper Freking. He was married to Mary Waldschmidt on June 19, 1935, at St. Mary's Remsen.

Funeral services will be at Thursday at St. Mary's with burial in the parish cemetery. Fisch funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include the widow; a son Ronald, a student at college in Salt Lake City; four daughters, Sister Veronica at Mt. St. Francis, Dubuque; Carole Jean, Betty Lou and Rose Ann at home.

He is survived by four brothers, Joseph H. of Remsen; Bernard, Gregg and Leo of Le Mars; four sisters, Caroline of Le Mars; Mrs. Leo Haverkamp of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Ray Waldschmidt and Mrs. Lyle Bohmenkamp of Remsen.

Deceased was a member of the Knights of Columbus and that group will say the rosary on Wednesday evening.
