GEORGE PECH PASSES AWAY

WELL KNOWN LEMARS RESIDENT SINCE BOYHOOD, SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK

George Pech, well known resident of Le Mars since early boyhood, dropped dead Friday morning at the Bolser estate farm tenanted by Leslie Smith in Union township. Mr. Pech who was employed by the Pech Foundry company, of this city, as a well digger, had just completed a well o the premises.

He was preparing to return to his home in Le Mars with his son, George Pech. The youth was in a truck starting the machine out of the farm yeard. Mr. Pech was opening the gate which leads into the main road when he fell forward to the ground. His son rushed to his assistance. His father gave two gasps and life was extinct.

The sudden death of Mr. Pech was a shock to his family and friends. He had suffered in recent years from attacks of heart trouble but of late had apparently been in the best of health.

George Edward Pech was born in Storm Lake January 20, 1885. When he was five years old he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Pech, to Le Mars and with the exception of eight years spent in Canada, lived here all his life. His father, Gus Pech, established the Pech Foundry Company in this city, of which W. O. Collins is now the owner and manager.

George Pech attended school in Le Mars and worked in the Pech Foundry. He was regarded as a god workman and mechanic and specialized in well drilling. He was well liked by his fellow workmen and associates and had a care free disposition.

Leaves Many Relatives

George Pech was united in marriage with Miss Anna Umiker, of this city, June 12, 1909, and one son, George, was born to them. Mrs. Pech died November 25, 1918, during the influenza scourge, and the son since that time has made his home with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Will Eyres, of this city.

The father of Mr. Pech died January 6, 1900, thirty-three years ago at the identical, age, 48 years, of the son.

George Pech is survived by his son, George, his mother, Mrs. Mary Pech, six sisters and one brother, who are: Mrs. Will Eyres, of Le Mars; Mrs. Will Detloff, of Elgin township; Mrs. George Osborn, of Seney; Mrs. L. George Osborn, of seney; Mrs. L. Fowler, of Richamond, Cal.; Mrs. E. S. Powles, of FAr Rockaway, N. T., Mrs. Wm. Eilers, Leeds, Iowa, and Clarence Pech, of Sioux City.

Funeral Held Monday

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Beely mortuary home, Rev. Harold A. Smith, pastor of the Union Presbyterian church officiated at the services. Interment was made in the city cemetery. Fellow workmen, employees at the Foundry; acted as pallbearers, Del Collins, Frank Giaser, Walter Hartwick, Gus Okerstrom. Louis Okerstrom and Leo Wilhelmi.
