Herman D. Vanderham

Herman D. Vanderham, 78, Hawarden, died Friday (Jan. 22, 1988) at his home.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Dow funeral home in Hawarden, with Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Pallbearers were Dick Weyen, Lyle Kaskie, Marvin Kaskie, and Kay Pocklington.

Mr. Vanderham was born Dec. 2, 1909 in North Dakota to David Herman and Anna Stallbum Vandrerham. He was raised on a farm in the Akron area. He farmed and was also a truck dirver. He married Bernice Franklin Oct. 3, 1974. The couple moved to Hawarden in 1975. Mr. Vanderham was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Hoschler American Legion post 186 of Akron.

Survivors include his wife; six sisters, Katie Kaelke of Belgrade, Minn., Minnie Haage of Hawarden, Mary Place of Snohomish, Wash., Lena Weyen of Chatsworth, Anna Huebner of Akron and Rosie Huebner of Beresford, S. D., a brother Bill of Sioux City; three stepsons and two step-daughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Fred.
