Madeline Vanderham
Madeline M. Vanderham, 77, Indian Hills Care Center, died Wednesday, July 19, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services were held Friday, July 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert J. Schimmer officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Larkin Northside Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Charles and Phil Vanderham, Thomas Myers, Chris Stanek, Michael Redmond and Larry Burnight.Mrs. Vanderham was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Akron, the daughter of Charles and Catherine (Gibbons) Burnight. She graduated from Akron High School in 1934. She married Sylvester H. Vanderham Nov. 24, 1938, in Akron. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1939. He died Aug. 9, 1942, in Akron. She retired in 1980 from St. Joseph Hospital after 25 years as the cafetera cashier.
Mrs. Vanderham was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; Ave. Maria Court 269 Catholic Daughters of America and a 21-year member of the Legion of Mary.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Jerry and Nancy Vanderham of Westfield, Iowa, and Thomas and Jane Vanderham of Macon, Mo.; five grandchildren, Charles H. Vanderham, Tina Myers, Suzanne Stanek, Phillip A. and Michael Vanderham; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Delores Stinton of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Theodore Burnight.
