Mrs. Morrison Dies June 14 In Le Mars Home
Old Resident Succumbs To Attack After Brief Illness
Mrs. Alex Morrison died Friday night at her home, 31 Fourth avenue SW, after three weeks illness from a heart attack.
Susan Ann McGillvrey was born January 3, 1869, in Burlington, Ill., and when she was two years old her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John McGilvrey, moved to Plymouth county and located on a farm just west of the Plymouth Presbyterian church. Here she grew up and on February 5, 1890, was married at elk Point, South Dakota, to Alexander R. Morrison, who survives her. They lived for a few years in Le Mars where Mr. Morrison worked at the carpenter trade and later moved to a farm in Preston township, returning to Le Mars to live in 1919.
Their only child, Mrs. Henry Collman, of Preston, survives her mother and there are four grandchildren. A niece, Mrs. Eugene Boshme, who is better known to Le Mars people by her maiden name,Miss Hazel McGillvrey lived with the Morrisons from early childhood ntil her marriage and is now living in Chino, California.
Mrs. Morrison is survived by four brothers, Laurn, of Wolsey, S. D., William and Herbert, of Wessington, S. D., and ARthur, of Chino, California. Four sisters and one brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Morrison first interests were her home and her church and she was a devoted wife and mother.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home at 1:30 with Rev. W. E. Smith of Sioux City, her former pastor, in charge and at 2:30 at the Plymouth Presbyterian church with Rev. T. C. Seibert conducting the servides at the church. Burial was in Plymouth cemetery.
