Was a Resident of Plymouth County For Forty-two Years
Mrs. W. J. Anderson passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Husted, of Merrill, Iowa, December 6, 1915, at 10:30 o'clock of heart failure, aged 55 years, 9 months and 4 days. She had been ill for three weeks.
Elizabeth Ann Whitney was born in Wisconsin, March 2, 1860, and came to Plymouth county in 1873 with her parents and has lived in Plymouth county and vicinity ever since. She was united in marriage on March 4, 1876, to George F. Fletcher. To this union was born eleven children Martha Husted, of Merrill; Carrie Eberhard, of Wessington Springs, S. D.; Emma Cott, of Sioux Falls, S. D.; Abbie
Talbott, of Merrill; Lavania Reynolds, of Hinton, and George Fletcher, of Sioux Falls, S. D., and five children have preceded the mother to the land beyond Rosie, Hattie, Reuben, John and Alice. Mr. Fletcher passed away May 13, 1895.On September 8, 1897 she was married to William J. Anderson. To this union was born three children, two of which are living, Esther and William, who are in Sioux Falls, S. D.
She also leaves six brothers, Josh Whitney, of Ireton; Sam, of Oregon; James, of Plymouth county; Charles, of Hastings, Iowa; George, of Lane, S. D., and one brother at Sanborn County, S. D., three sisters, Sally Roberts, of Le Mars; Mercy Stinton, of Dell Rapids, S. D., and Lura Lord, of Michigan. Also twenty-five grandchildren. She was a woman beloved by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at one o'clock at the Adaville U. B. church on Wednesday, December 8, and interment in the Adaville cemetery.
Relatives coming from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Cott, Geo. Fletcher, Esther and William Anderson, of Sioux Falls, S. D.; Mrs. Frank Eberhard and daughter, Angeline, of Wesslngton Springs, S. D.; Geo. Whitney, of Lane, S. D.; Mrs. James Warren, of Beresford, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Anderson and son, Arthur, of Akron; Josh Whitney, of Ireton; Mrs. Sally Roberts, of Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Husted, Mr. and Mrs. Will Warren, Rose Shear and Mrs. Tom Warren all of Westfield, Iowa.
