Death Of Hugh Halley

Hugh Halley, aged 32 years, died at his home in Westfield, Ia., Wednesday, December 27, 1911, after an illness of about four days, the cause of death being cerebral meningitis.

Mr. Halley was born at Hudson, Iowa, October 2, 1879, and attended the Waterloo High School, of which he was a graduate. In 1906 he moved onto a farm east of Westfield, where he remained until about a month ago, when he bought the Livery and Gray Business here.

On January 1, 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Edna May Porterfield, and to this union three children have been born--Glenn, aged 8; Lucile, aged 6, and Kenneth, aged 4. They with a loving wife, his aged parents, four brothers and two sisters, are left to mourn his untimely death.
The funeral services were held in the Congregational church in Westfield, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Nickerson. The remains were taken to Akron and laid to rest in Riverside cemetery.

Relatives at a distance who came to the funeral were his brother, Paul N. Halley, and Mrs. Halley's brother, Ernest Rousselon, of Hudson, Iowa.

Though the obituary doesn't mention it, he was also survived at this time by his parents John S. and Delia Halley, his brothers Philip, Ernest and Fred Halley.
