ESTEEMED AKRON WOMAN IS CALLED TO FINAL REWARD
Last Rites for Mrs. Catherine Coyle Are Held Last Thursday Morning
Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron, Thursday morning, August 11, for Mrs. Catherine Coyle, who passed away Tuesday evening, August 9, 1938, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 26 days.
Catherine Short was born February 14, 1847, at Long Island, N. Y. When a very young girl she moved with her parents to Ridgeway, Wis., where the family resided. In 1862 she married Eugne Coyle, of Ridgeway, Wis. To this union eight children were born. Two sons and her husband preceded her in death, her husband in 1896.
In 1899 the family moved to Akron, Iowa, and resided on a farm north of town for a number of years. Later in life she made her home with her son, Eugene, at Corsica, S. D., until in her advancing years she was unable to assume the duties of a home and hse made her home with her daughters, Mrs. Clerkin and Mrs. Harris.
She was always a kind hearted and loving mother and neighbor. She found her choicest happiness in her prayers and she bore the crosses sent her most patiently.
Left to mourn her departure are three sons, Eugene Coyle, of Corsica, S. D., and John and Frank Coyle, of Akron; three daughters, Mrs. J. L. Putnam, of Armour, S. D.; Mrs. Alice Clerkin and Mrs. Isaac Harris, of Akron; fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Six grandsons acted as pallbearers--Cecil Harris, George and Leslie Putnam, Everett Coyle and John, Jr., and Paul Coyle.
Relatives from out of town who came for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Putnam and son, Leslie, of Armour, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Leary and family, of Ridgeway, Wis.; Mrs. Lawrence Chicoine, of Jefferson, S. D., and Mrs. Garry Rich, of Yankton, S. D.
Interment was in the Catholic cemetery here.
