Note: Her maiden name was Atkin and she is buried in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Maria Butler died at her home in Sioux City on Friday, March 15th, of heart disease, aged 65 years. Mrs. Butler had been in poor health for the past year and a half and her death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Butler was an old resident of Le Mars, having lived here for twenty-five years. She was a native of Canada having been born at Normandale on May 12, 1847. She was rear3ed and educated in her native town and forty-three years ago was married to William Warren Butler who preceded her in death five years ago.
She is survived by a large family of sons and daughters who mourn the death of a loving mother. They are John, Harley, Frank, and Will, of this place; George, Roy, Mrs. R. S. Christy, Blanche, and Belle of Sioux City.
Mr. and Mrs. Butler came to Le mars about thirty years ago and were well-known to the older residents. Since the death of her husband Mrs. Butler and her daughter have lived in Sioux City.
The remains were brought to Le Mars yesterday and the funeral held at the First Baptist Church at two o'clock Rev. J. C. Hoover conducting the services.
