Iowa Pioneer Suffers Fatal Heart Attack

Death claimed Thomas Bleasdell, 81, long time risident of Iowa, at his home, Seventh Street West, Thursday morning. His death came suddenly due to a heart attack, although he had been ailing for the past four weeks.

Mr. Bleasdell was born in Indiana, August 26, 1853. When a youth he came with his parents to Clarence, Iowa. While living there he was united in marriage with Miss Janet Nairn. They moved to Gage County, Nebraska, in 1886. After remaining there a year they came to Plymouth County and settled on a farm in Garfield Township. In 1893 they sent farming in Cherokee County where they lived theiry-seven years. They came to Le Mars four years ago to make their home.

Mr. Bleasdell is survived by two sons and three daughters, E. E. Bleasdell, of Le Mars; John T. Bleasdell, of Aurelia; Mrs. Frank Marsh, Bryan, Ohio; Mrs. Leon Stagg, Whitetail, Montana; Mrs. Margaret Summers, Kent, Washington. There are seventeen grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Mr. Bleasdell was well known in Plymouth and Cherokee counties and was a respected citizen of the community.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed pending word from relatives at a distance. There services will probably be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon.

Tom Bleasdell, 81, brother of C.J. Bleasdell of Pierson, died Thursday morning, September 6, 1934, at his home in Le Mars after several weeks of critical illness with heart trouble.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, September 8, and burial was made in the Le Mars Cemetery.

He lived in Garfield Township, Plymouth County, for six years. In 1893 he moved to Cherokee where he farmed for 37 years before retiring to Le Mars 4 years ago.

Survivors include his wife and five children, Elmer Bleasdell of Le Mars, Mrs. Margaret Summers of Washington State, Mrs. Frank Marsh of Bryan, Ohio, Mrs. Len Stagg of Whitetail, Montana, and John T. Bleasdell of Aurelia, Iowa, one brother, C.J. Bleasdell of Pierson, one sister, Mrs. Ida Enos of California, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
