Kathryn Trobaugh, 78, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Bronson, IA. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 with Rev. Walter Clark officiating at Nelson Berger Northside Chapel. Burial will be in the Westfield Township Cemetery in Westfield, IA. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with family present at the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Nelson Berger Northside Chapel.

Katheryn was born on July 7, 1936 in Jefferson, SD to Hans and Laura (Miner) Rasmussen. She was the oldest of three children. Katheryn was married to Mahlon Robert Trobaugh in Elk Point, SD on November 12, 1954. They had six children. For the majority of their marriage they lived on a farm in Plymouth County. They were married for 55 years until he preceded her in death on November 20, 2009 in Sioux City.

Katheryn loved to garden and plant flowers. Other hobbies she enjoyed were painting, sewing, crafting, reading, and doing crosswords. She was also an excellent cook. In her free time she enjoyed going to her craft club and was also a proud Red Hat Lady. Katheryn was an active member of Church of Christ in Sioux City. Her church and faith were very important to her. She will be fondly remembered for her loving and caring spirit. She had a fun sense of humor and was so thoughtful and giving to others.

She is survived by her daughter Trude (Dennis) Ortner of Danbury, IA; son Lyle (Omyra) Trobaugh of LeMars, IA; daughter Clara (Mick) Garvin of Bronson, IA; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Roberta Rollins, brother Norman Rasmussen, daughter Lynette and twin son and daughter Dean and Donna.
