HOLD RITES FOR ESTEEMED AKRON WOMAN THURSDAY
Mrs. Fred O. Claesson Had Spent Most Of Life In This Community
Mrs. Fred O. Claesson departed this life last Monday afternoon, December 10, 1951, at the Akron Community Hospital, following a brief illness. She was 56 years, 3 months, and 8 days of age.
Hilma Christina Carlson, was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, September 2, 1895. During her childhood, her parents moved to Chicago, Illinois, and on July 10, 1910, she was confirmed at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Chicago. As a child, she was privileged to trave to Sweden a few times with her parents.
He was united in marriage with Fred O. Claesson on October 18, 1917. Mr. and Mrs. Claesson immediately moved to a farm near Chatsworth, Iowa, where they lived until March, 1920. At that time they moved to the Claesson farm, east of Akron, and resided there for a little over thirty years or until in the summer of 1950, when they moved into Akron.
She became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church very son after her marriage and continued as an active member throughout her life. She was active in many phases of the life of her church and her comunity. She was happy only as she was able to be actively helpful to a large circle of friends. She maintained a surprisingly large amount of correspondence and faithfully remembered others on special occasions.
She leaves to mourn her departure: her husband; her son, Fred Raymond; her granddaughter, Nancy Jean Claesson, other relatives and a great number of friends.
Funeral services were held in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Thursday afternoon, preceded by a brief service at the Lewison Funeral Home. Pastor David J. Roy officiated. Music was provided by a male quartet composed of H. J. Behmer, Arden Johnson, Karl Silkebakken and J. R. Shoulberg, with Mrs. Henning Shoulberg at the organ. Pallbearers were Russell Clark, Otto Larsen, Alve Ericson, Edwin Nelson, Harry Nelson and John Sykes, Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
