DR. CHARLES DAVID RIDGLEY, JR.

Dr. Charles David Ridgley, Jr., 53, of Copperas Cove, Texas, died Tuesday, December 25, 2001, in Texas.

Dr. Ridgley was born September 11, 1948, in Richmond Heights, Missouri. He received his elementary and secondary education in Texas and Arkansas. He attended the University of California in Davis and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical School at Little Rock.

He entered the US Air Force, served his medical internship at Wm. Beaumont Hospital at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He worked as an Air Force doctor and flight surgeon for 12 years.

He received his Masters Degree in Public Health from Ohio State University at Columbus in 1987. He served eight years as an Army doctor and retired in 1995 as a Lieutenant Colonel.

At his retirement, Dr. Ridgley was Chief of Occupational Medicine at Fort Hood. Dr. Ridgley was currently Chief of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the VA Hospital at Temple, Texas.

He was a member of the American Legion Post of Akron, Lionel Railroad Club, a ham radio operator and an amateur photographer. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, FayAnn of Copperas Cove, Texas; and two sons, Charles David Ridgley III and Travis Ridgley, both of Copperas Cove.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials will be directed to Second Chance Animal Shelter, Plymouth Presbyterian Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Heart Association.
