Died from the Effects
Mrs. William Berg, who with her husband, were nearly asphyxiated by gas about three weeks ago at their home in Grant Township, died on Thursday from the effects of the gas.
It will be remembered Mr. and Mrs. Berg were found unconscious one morning by their son who resides near them. They had retired early the previous evening and when found by their son on the following day were both unconscious from the effects of coal gas and in a very critical condition.
Mrs. Berg was in a more precarious condition than her husband and never recovered fully from the effects of the gas and has suffered exceedingly the past two weeks. Mr. Berg has been improving nicely the past few days and his complete recovery is considered certain.
Mrs. Berg was about sixty-three years of age and leaves besides her husband, two sons, Herman and Lewis, and a daughter, Mrs. Jurgen Renken, all married and residing in Grant Township. Mr. and Mrs. Berg came to this county about seventeen years ago.
The funeral was held on Sunday at Grant Township Lutheran Church and was largely attended by sympathizing friends and neighbors. Rev. J. D. Meyer officiated at the services.
