Raymond Patrick Welch
Raymond Patrick Welch, 77, Akron, died Sunday (Feb. 3, 1985) at his home of an apparent heart attack.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron. The Rev. Stanley R. Stone officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery in Akron, under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home of Akron. A rosary service was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Robert Jordan, David Devine, Steve Welch, William Claassen, Ed Searls, Leo Welch, Vincent Welch, Eugene Welch, Leonard Welch, and Dennis Welch, Jr.
Mr. Welch was born July 3, 1907 at Westfield, Iowa. He married Elizabeth Hamel Sept. 18,1930 at Kenmore, N.D. They farmed in the Akron and Westfield area until 1972 when they retired and moved to Akron. He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic church, Westfield, until moving to Akron, when he became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, James and Dennis, both of Joliet, Ill., and Robert of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Jordan and Mrs. Marvin (Colleen) Brandts, both of Sioux City, Mrs. Herman (Kathleen) Harbeck of Phoenix, Ariz., Joan Henke of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Dennis (Margaret) Devine of Geneva, Neb.; three brothers, Frank, Emmett and Jessie, all of Akron; 28 grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
Mr. Welch was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ella Claassen, and two brothers, Robert and William Welch.
