Verda M. Bullis

Verda M. Bullis, 83, of Elk Point died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at the Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point following a lengthy illness.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 4 in Union cemetery at Flandreau, S.D., with the Rev. Stan Gruneich officiating. Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bullis was born March 16, 1914, in Union County, S.D., the daughter of John L. and Frances (Farwell) Smith. She recieved her education in rural schools in Union County, S.D. and graduated from Akron High School in 1932.

She married Reuben M. Bullis on March 8, 1933, in Elk Point. The moved to the Brookings, S.D. area, where they farmed. In 1946, she became ill and had a lengthy hospitalization. She entered Prarie Estates Care Center. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Warren and Betty of Flandreau, S.D.; a daughter and her husband, Vergene and Glen Clark of White, S.D.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Beaubien of Sioux City; and a brother and his wife, eldon "Smitty" and Bebe Smith of Akron..

She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilford; a sister, Doris Campbell; and a grandson, Paul Clark.
