Charles Brown
Funeral services for Charles W. Brown, 70, proprietor of Brownie's Lunch were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Le Mars. Rev. C. W. Dehne officiated and burial was in the Le Mars City cemetery under direction of the Luken Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown was working at Brownie's Lunch when he complained of not feeling well at 3 a.m. He had waited on a customer at the all night eating place when he sat at a counter stool and collapsed. He was taken to the Sacred Heart Hospital by the Luken's Ambulance and pronounced dead on arrival.
Charles W. Brown, 44 2nd Ave. SW, was born Aug. 3, 1889, at Le Mars. His marriage to Mary Vetter took place Aug. 23, 1910, at Sunnyside, Wash. The couple would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown had been in the restaurant business here for many years.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Kramer of Hinton and Mrs. Florence Thoms of Le Mars; three sons, Glenn of Le Mars, Ray, Mankato, Minn.; and Frank of Sioux City; one brother, Lester, of Le Mars; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
