Death Claims Mary Dobbert Old Resident

Member Of Pioneer Family Was Prominent In Church And Social Circles

Mary M. Dobbert, daughter of Michael and Magdalena Huebsch, was born in Stanton township August 13, 1874. Her parents were pioneers in that community where she grew to womanhood enjoying the associations of a large circle of friends. Her marriage to William Dobbert was solemnized by Rev. J. H. Bauernfeind on November 29, 1893.

Following this, she and her husband settled on a farm in Stanton township where they were engaged in farming till 1907. They then purchased a home in Le Mars and continued to make their home in this city during the remainder of her life.

Early in childhood Mrs. Dobbert was brought under the influence of the Evangelical church and her earnest Christian life was marked by a long period of usefulness to the church. She was a member of Stanton Evangelical church and later when the family came to Le Mars was active in Hildreth Memorial Church. She helped organize the Philahea Sunday school class and was its first president. She was the first president of the Ladies' Auxiliary. She had served as superintendent of the Cradle Roll and of the home departments of the Sunday school. She was also active in the work of the Women's Mission Society, serving for a number of years as superintendent of the Mission Band.

During the past several years failing health had taken her from these more active duties and forced upon her a period of increasing physical inactivity. She gradually grew weaker till the past year it was necessary to keep her confined to her bed. In spite of all she went through, she remained patient, never complaining, always appreciating the friends who came to see her, and maintaining a constant faith in God and the comforts of the Scripture. She passed away December 4, 1938, at the age of 64.

Surviving are her husband, William Dobbert, a son, Alfred M. Dobbert, a daughter, Mrs. H. T. DeMaranville, two granddaughters, Donna and Nancy De Maranvile, and four sisters, Mrs. F. W. Uthe of Watertown, S. D., Mrs. C. W. Koenig of White, S. D., Mrs. H. C. Schmidt, both of Minneapolis, Minn.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Hildreth Memorial Evangelical Church. Rev. G. O. Thompson will officiate. Mauer's will direct the funeral.
