Elaine Grosenheider, 71, of Le Mars, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, in Sioux City.

Elaine Lucille Harms was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Le Mars, to Maurice and Mary (Orban) Harms. She attended the Gehlen Catholic School in Le Mars -- class of 61.

Elaine was united in marriage to Robert Grosenheider Aug. 3, 1958, at St. James Catholic Church, in Le Mars. Elaine and Bob made their home in Le Mars. The couple were blessed with five children: Debra, Julie, Scott, Dan, and Karin.

As a young woman, Elaine worked at the Le Mars Flower House. She also worked at several insurance and accounting agencies and spent over 21 years at Kroese and Kroese until her retirement.

Elaine and Bob spent over 40 years enjoying beautiful Lake Shetak, in Minnesota. Many family memories were created and shared while at their lake home.

Elaine loved to be outside, from doing yard work around the home to enjoying the beautiful sunrise at the lake with her dog Daisy.

Bob died on March 10, 2013.

Elaine was a very social person, who enjoyed visiting with family, neighbors and many friends.

Her greatest joy was the treasured time with her children, grandchildren, and later being a great grandmother.

Survivors include her children: Scott Grosenheider and his wife Joyce, of Le Mars, Dan Grosenheider, of Le Mars, and Karin Ward and her husband Jory, of Sergeant Bluff; five grandchildren: Melessa (Lee) Tyler, Kim (Paul) Czarnezki, Julia (Jason) Curry, Shayla Rowe, and Brody Rowe; six great-grandchildren: Justin Tyler, Nathan Tyler, Kirsten Tyler, Samuel Czarnezki, Aleyna Curry, and Braden Curry. Survivors also include a very special friend, Walt Kleinhesselink, of Le Mars; her siblings: Bev Barker, of Le Mars, Patty (Dave) Hill, of Le Mars, Joan Harms, of Le Mars, Ed (Kay) Harms, of Wichita, Kan., Ken Harms, of Le Mars, and Merle (Sue) Huls, of Akron; sisters-in-law, Pat Harms and Marlys Harms, of Le Mars; a brother-in-law, Dale Cook, of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob Grosenheider on March 10, 2013; two infant daughters, Debra and Julie; a sister Lois; and brothers, Don, Arnie, and Jerry.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow and the Rev. Peter Rosenkvist officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home, in Le Mars, with the family present to greet friends after 5:30 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
