Early Settler At Melbourne

Mrs. Emma Winter Dies Saturday Night

Mrs. Emma E. Winter, 74, well known Plymouth county resident for many years, died Saturday night in a hospital in Sioux City after a three weeks illness. Mrs. Winter returned recently from California, where she spent the winter months.

Mrs. Winter was born at Galena, Ill., September 29, 1867. Her parents came here when she was only a year old and settled on a farm near Hinton. She was married to Henry J. Winter, February 12, 1890.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Barnes and Mrs. Adelia Adams, of Long Beach, Cal., and three brothers, George Bender of Hinton, John Bender of Clinton, Minn., and William Bender of Long Beach, Cal., and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held this Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Melbourne church. Rev. A. W. Schlesselman, the pastor, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Melbourne cemetery.
