CHARLES TRAFFORD

Charles E. Trafford, 84, longtime LeMars resident and well known sportsman in this area, was found dead in bed by his wife early Tuesday. He had been in poor health for four months. It was only recently known how sick Mr. Trafford was. His death was however, unexpected. The couple resided at 234 4th Ave. Northwest.

Mr. Trafford was born November 20, 1875, at New Diggings, Wisconsin. He came to Iowa with his parents at the age of 5. His marriage to Jennie Marie Dambrink took place in Sioux Falls on June 30, 1932.

Mr. Trafford was a partner with John Bailey in a recreation parlor here and he later sold out to his partner. He was a lather by trade and a painter for the past 15 years.

Deceased was well known in this area as a sportsman; hunter; trapper and he was widely known in bowling, billiard and baseball circles and excelled in these activities.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 29, at 2 p. m., at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in LeMars with Rev. C. W. Dehne officiating. Burial will be in the LeMars City Cemetery under the direction of the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home until noon Friday. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour before service time.

Survivors include the wife, Jennie Marie; two sons, William of Levitown, Pa.; and Henry of Norfolk, Virginia; four grandchildren; a brother, Ernest of LeMars; two sisters, Mrs. Warren Lilly of Le Mars and Mrs. Edith Trewheler, of Bozeman, Montana. Mr. Trafford was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Harry, William and Everett and a grandson. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks.
