MRS. ELLA GARDNER DIES AT HOSPITAL AT THE AGE OF 84
Funeral services for Ella Mae Gardner. 84, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Mauer funeral home in LeMars. Burial will be in Yankton, S.D. Rev. Milo Morris will officiate
at last rites.Mrs. Gardner of 419 Seventh Ave. SW, died Saturday at Sacred Heart hospital after an illness of several months.
Ella Mae Swan was born May 25, 1881, in Bloomfield, Neb. She came to Plymouth county in 1921 and moved to Merrill. In 1940, she came to LeMars to make her home. Her parents were the late Deborah Prosser and George Swan.
She was married to Joseph Branaugh in 1900 at Yankton. He died in 1910. In 1915, she was married to Richard Gardner. His death came in 1963.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Edith) Sweeny, Emery, S.D.; Mrs. James (Alberta) Crichton, Ravina, S.D.; Mrs. Thelma Gauthier, Lowell, Mass., and Lois Gardner, LeMars; three sons, George Branaugh, Hood River, Ore.; Wilbur Branaugh, Broadus, Mont., and Joseph Branaugh, Jr., LeMars; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Leslie and Clifford.
Mrs. Gardner was a member of the Methodist church
