KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Bruce Richardson, 62, of Kingsley died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Duane Miesner officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Bruce Elmer Richardson was born April 11, 1944, in Kingsley, the son of Elmer M. and Nora I. (Torkelson) Richardson. After graduating from high school in 1963 from Kingsley-Pierson Community School, he farmed at home southwest of Kingsley. He also did some road construction and worked for area farmers.

In 1978, he started working for Russell's Ready Mix of Kingsley, first as a driver and then as plant manager. After leaving Russell's, he worked for a number of years as a mechanic at Bottjen Implement. Wherever he was employed, he earned the friendship and respect of everyone he worked for and worked with.

In his spare time, he did small engine repair, but his passion was working to restore older John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed working as a part-time farmer, especially at calving time and will be truly missed by his family, friends and acquaintances.

Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Lonnie Richardson of Kingsley; two grandsons, Shawn and Christopher Richardson of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Glenn and Bonnie Richardson of Plano, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Duckett and LaCrete Richardson of Sioux City; a special cousin, Jim Torkelson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Romain and Kent Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bruce Richardson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Kingsley State Bank.
