James W. Phipps Former Resident Called By Death
James Wesley Phipps of Des Moines passed away at the Broadlawns General hospital after a short sickness. Mr. Phipps was 72 years of age. He farmed in this vicinity for a number of years and moved to Des Moines about six years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, and seven children, Mrs. Lowell Newton of Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Ralph Lamb of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. C. W. Wilson of Washington, D. C.; Arnold of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; James of Camp Picketts, Va.; Gordon of Sheppard Field, Texas, and Ralph W. of Sioux City, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the E. Carl White funeral home in Des Moines with R. A. Widert, former funeral director of Sioux Center, in charge of the services. Rev. A. W. Winkelman of the Bethany Baptist church officiated. Interment was made in Glendale cemetery at Des Moines.
