Doris Weiler
REMSEN, IOWA — Doris Weiler, 74, of Remsen, Iowa, passed away after a brief illness from cancer. She was born on October 23, 1927, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Arning) Lenertz. She was raised in the Remsen area and received her education in both the rural school system and St. Mary’s Catholic School from which she graduated in 1945. She then attended Briar Cliff College at Sioux City, Iowa for two years and then worked for Family Services in Sioux City for one year. She then returned to Remsen and married Allan Weiler on November 22, 1949 at Remsen. They made their home near Remsen where they engaged in farming. They retired and moved into Remsen in September 1990. Doris had been a resident of the Happy Siesta Health Care Center since February 5, 2002. Surviving are her husband, Deacon Allan “Bud” Weiler of Remsen; three sons and their wives, Jim and Ann of Chassell, Pat and Sharon of Pella, Iowa, Jerry and Marcia of Remsen; daughters and their husbands, Helen and Michael Gunter of Mountain Home, Ark., Mary Jo and Jim McDavitt of Lakeville, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Lois and her husband, Earl Loutsch of Remsen. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph in infancy; two brothers, Francis Lenertz in infancy, and Wayne Lenertz. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. Thomas J. Hart officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen is assisting the family.
