Herman Carl Friedrich, 89, rural Akron, died Monday evening (May 25, 1981) in the Akron hospital of a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran church, Preston township, rural Akron. The Rev. Robert Kreumpel will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home, Le Mars.
Mr. Friedrich was born April 13, 1892 in Preston township, rural Akron, to John and Dorthea Anna Riegert Friedrich. He was a retired farmer and lifelong resident of Preston township.
He married Katherine Popken, Dec. 19, 1929 in St. John's Lutheran church, rural Akron.
He served in world war 1, the VFW of Le Mars. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran church. He served as Preston township assessor for 32 years and on the Preston township school board for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine of rural Akron; two sons, Norman of Norfolk, Va., and Arthur of Rock Valley; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank, John, Edward and Henry.
