DeLoris (Boecher) Hoffman, 78, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.

Private family burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery – Adaville, rural Merrill, Iowa. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

In humble beginnings, DeLoris Arleen Boecher was born October 22, 1935, in Sioux City, during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl days of Iowa, to parents Christian Richard and Opal Anna. Since times were very hard, her family moved a great deal in search of work, and she changed schools several times. She graduated from Lawton Bronson in the spring of 1953, and obtained work at Bishop’s Cafeteria and Kresge’s in Sioux City, IA. She met her husband, Ray Hoffman Jr. of Westfield at the Tomba Ballroom, and married four months later on July 18, 1954. Early in her marriage, she suffered the great loss of her firstborn daughter, Mary Lee. She went on to have four other girls, Donna (David) Call of Spencer, Diane (Ted) Feldhacker of LeMars, Doris (Jim) Snow of Rapid City, SD, and Darlene& (Don) Soukup of Scotland, SD.

DeLoris lived in the country all of her married life, raising her children, growing a garden, canning, sewing, laundry, feeding farm hands and animals, running tons of errands, and sacrificing unselfishly to the needs of whatever needed doing at the time; all the devoted things a mother does. She always enjoyed reading, music, dancing, poetry, crocheting, and visiting with others.

She was blessed with twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, with two more on the way. She enjoyed seeing them play, and laughed at their wonderful enthusiasm. Every daughter, grandchild, and great grandchild received a hand-crocheted blanket by her loving hands.

Besides her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she is also survived by her sister, Sandra (Alvin) Roggatz of Correctionville, Iowa, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Boecher of Sioux City, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Richard, and her daughter, Mary Lee.

She was devoted to God’s Word, and read the Bible several times over. She lived unselfishly and humbly all the days of her life, believing in His Truth, and holding fast to all of His promises. She rested from her labors on October 7, 2014 surrounded by her girls and loved ones.

With love always, Your 4 D’s
