DALE RIEDIGER
Dale Riediger, 73, of Hinton passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2001, at his home near Hinton, Iowa. Funeral services will take place on Friday, February 2, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Hinton. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 6-8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Dale Riediger was born on January 8, 1928, in Hungerford Township, Plymouth County the son of August and Bertha (Muecke) Riediger. He was raised on a farm east of Hinton and attended country school as well as Hinton High School. On January 31, 1951, Dale and Phyllis Schulz were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church near Hinton. The couple has farmed east of Hinton since their marriage. Dale was an innovative farmer, who inspired many changes in the area. He and his sons were one of the firsts to use the large round balers in the Hinton area. Dale and his son, Myron, also raised British White cattle from England, a rare breed in the United States. Dale was a member of the National Farmer’s Organization (NFO), as well as state and local agricultural groups. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church near Hinton. He enjoyed his family, friends, farming, fishing and especially his cattle. He was an active member of his community and was always willing to assist others. Dale will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Phillis of Hinton; three sons, Douglas and his wife Colleen of rural Wakonda, South Dakota; and Myron of rural Hinton; and Kendall and his wife Diane of rural Lawton, Iowa; a daughter Beth Breeden and her husband Doug of Lakeville, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. Preceding Dale in death are his parents, two brothers Ralph and Earl.
