RUBEN HEIMGARTNER
Ruben Heimgartner, 85, of Kingsley, Iowa, died Monday, January 14, 2002, at Kingsley Nursing & Rehab Center. Ruben was born June 5, 1916, at rural Hinton, the son of Henry and Katherine (Voegeli) Heimgartner. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. He received his elementary education at country school No 4 in Lincoln Township, rural Hinton. On September 24, 1939, he married Florence Reinholdt at Trinity Lutheran church. Ruben was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church until 1941, when he became a member at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley. For many years he taught Sunday School and was Sunday School superintendent. He also served as church treasurer, elder, and trustee, as well as on several committees. Ruben farmed in the Kingsley area for many years before retiring in the spring of 1979. To Ruben farming was more than an occupation, it was the way of life for him. He served as Elkhorn Township assessor for many years, township trustee, and also served as chairman of the Elkhorn Township election board. He was a member of Farm Bureau and served as a director for Farm Bureau. He loved to fish, hunt and use his welder. Survivors include his wife Florence Heimgartner, of Kingsley; three sons, Wayne Heimgartner and his wife Judy of Quimby; Kenneth Heimgartner and his wife Marsha of Spencer; Daryl Heimgartner and his wife Sharon of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elroy Heimgartner and his wife Maycele of Le Mars; and Duane Heimgartner and his wife Lorna of Hinton; one sister-in-law Lillian Heimgartner of Vandalia, Illinois. Preceded him in death by his parents, one brother, and sister-in-law Albrik and Elsie Heimgartner, and one brother Robert Heimgartner. Funeral services were held in Kingsley with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery rural Hinton.
