Albert Beeck, 93, of Akron, Iowa passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at his home in Akron following a brief battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Reverend Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron with military rites conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 with the family present after 5:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron.
Albert Beeck was born December 26, 1919 on the family farm in Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Fred and Minnie (Jahn) Beeck. He attended Port Country School near Akron.
He entered the United States Army on November 7, 1941. He served his country during World War II, attaining the rank of PFC. He was honorably discharged on August 31, 1945.
He was united in marriage to Betty Willer on June 22, 1952. He and Betty farmed for many years in Union County, South Dakota. In 1976, they moved to Akron. Albert went to work for Nelson Hatchery in Akron for many years until retiring.
Albert was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. He was a member of the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. Through the years, he enjoyed fishing, restoring motors, and dancing the polka. But most of all, he loved the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of over 61 years, Betty of Akron; his children: Judy (Gene) Schink of Long Branch, TX and Allen (Valere) Beeck of rural Akron; a daughter in law: Charlotte Beeck of Akron; 9 grandchildren: Isaac, Fernando, Garret, Jesse, Eva, JoAnah, Josh, Nick, and Adrian Beeck; 3 step grandchildren: Pam Weyen, Keith Ritchey, and Kevin Ritchey; his brother: Emil (Charlotte) Beeck of Akron; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Arlin Beeck; 7 brothers; and a sister.
