Barthelemy Blumer, a Long Time resident of This City, Succumbs to a Brief Illinois Lasting Nine Days - Lived Here Thirty Years.

Barthelemy Blumer died at his residence on Cedar street on Saturday night at half past eleven of a nine days illness caused by cerebro embolism, or a blood clot forming on the brain. At half past ten he was resting easily and his recovery was looked for but shortly after he took a sudden turn for the worse and the end unexpectedly came. Few knew of his sickness and his death came as a shock and surprise to his relatives and friends. Mr. Blumer was an old time resident of LeMars and was engaged for many years in the paper hanging and painting business. He was a native of Switzerland, where he was born at Engi, Canton Glarus, on September 17, 1860. When a young man he came to LeMars and has lived here ever since. He was united in marriage twenty nine years ago on next December to Sarah Ruedy, who with four children mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. The children are B. J. Blumer, of this city. Miss Margaret Blumer, a teacher in the country schools, and Mary and Clara at home with the mother. He also leave a sister, Mrs. M. Fogali, living at Beresford, S. D., and another sister living in Colorado. Mr. Blumer was a good citizen and neighbor and respected by a large number of people.

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at SL John's Evangelical church, corner of Howard and Fifth, Rev. M. J. Dammann officiating.
