Dorothy Anna Kindig
Dorothy Ann Kindig, 66, Westfield, died Thursday (Sept. 25, 1986) in a Sioux City nursing home after a long illness.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Catholic church, Akron. The Rev. Timothy Schott officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery Akron, under the direction of Schroeder funeral home.
Pallbearers were Patrick Toben, Renee Toben, Douglas Kindig, Angela Kindig, Michael Gries, Teresa Gries, Jennifer Gries and Bill Langley.
Mrs. Kindig, the former Dorothy Ann Ross, was born Sept. 29, 1919, to Charles and Anna Neary Ross at Akron, Iowa. She married Duane Kindig, Feb. 28, 1938, in Sioux City. The couple lived in Akron, Chatsworth and Westfield area most of their married life. The retired to Westfield in 1978. Mrs. Kindig worked for Otis Radio in Hawarden for 14 years and at Zenith Radio Corp. in Sioux City for 11 years.
Survivors include her husband, Duane of Westfield; a son, James D. of Sioux Falls; three daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Joellen) Toben of Westfield, Mrs. James (Janice) Gries of Lawton and Mrs. Robert (Judy) Jaminet of Hinton; one sister, Helen Schmidt of Santa Rosa, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Gordon, Melvern and Herbert and a son, Jonathon.
