Note: Mother's maiden name was Smith.

HOLD RITES FOR FORMER AKRON AREA RESIDENT

Local relatives who attended the funeral of James B. Ross, 86, a former resident here, Tuesday of last week at Rapid City, S. D., were George and Vera Ross, Mrs. Virgil Harris and Gregory.

Mr. Ross passed away at his home there the previous Friday, after a long illness. The following obituary is taken from a Rapid City paper:

He was born June 19, 1879, in Akron, Iowa, and in 1890 he came to South Dakota and ranched in Buffalo County and farmed in Hand County until 1929 when his family moved to Mitchell. They came to Rapid City in 1934. In 1907 he married Fannie Sedam.

He was preceded in death by one son, Donovan.

Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Ray Rasmussen of Platte; one sone James S. Ross of Everett, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Susan Smythe of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Leslie Lovell of Kellogg, Idaho, and two brothers, William B. Ross and George B. Ross, both of Akron, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Behrens Mortuary conducted by the Rev. Robert Wagner. Burial was in Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
A memorial has been established to the First Methodist Church.
