Louise M. Rozell, 84, of Akron, Iowa died Thursday March 12, 1998, at her home following a short illness.
Services were held Monday, March 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Schroeder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Bradley Rozell, Rollin, Rodney, Randy, and Ronald Rann, and Steven and Rick Westhoff.
Honorary pallbearers were her grand-daughters, Pam Hansen, Ramonda Swindell, Robin Rann, Cindy Klemme, and Melinda Douma.
Mrs. Rozell was born June 25, 1913, in Clark, S.D., the daughter of Meinart and Tilda (Hartman) Doyen. She was baptized on Sept. 14, 1913, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 19, 1927, at Peace Lutheran Church in Clark vicinity where she attended area schools.
She moved to Akron in 1931 where she met and married arthur Rozell Jr. on Dec. 18, 1935. They farmed in the Akron area until 1965 after which they moved to Craig, Iowa and owned and operated a grocery store. The couple retired in 1974, moving back to Akron. He died on Une 2, 1983.
She had written the "I Remember" column for the Akron Register-Tribune for several years. She enjoyed quilting, and sewing. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron and had been active in the church and circle (W.E.L.C.A.).
Survivors include a son and his wife, Le Roy and Angela of Aurora, Colo.; four daughters and their husbands, Adele and LaRue Hansen and Karen and Dick Hartman, all of Sioux City, Phyllis and Glenn Hamann and Delores and GErald Westhoff, all of Le Mars, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Hilda and Andy Doyen of Palmer, Iowa, and Ella and Wilmer Lenz of Pomeroy, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Steven Swindell; eight brothers, five sisters; a sister in infancy; and nieces and nephews.Akron Register Tribune
