GOTTFRIED HAUSER LOCATED IN WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP IN THE SEVENTIES

Gottfried Hauser, a resident of Plymouth county in the early days, died at his home in Salem, S. D., Friday, May 6, after a lingering illness, at the age of 77 years.

The remains were taken to Merrill and the funeral held in the Merrill Methodist church Tuesday afternoon Rev. Mark Masters officiating. The interment was made in the cemetery at Crathorne.

Gottfried Hauser was born in Jackson county, Iowa, April 2, 1850, and came west when a young man settling in Washington township, six miles northwest of Merrill in the early seventies. He was united in marriage with Miss Selina Pritchard in 1873.

Four children were born to this union, three of whom, with the mother are living. They are Mrs. John Barkseberd, of Elva Lake, Minn., John Hauser, of Le Mars, and Percy Hauser, of Sioux Falls, S. D.

He moved from Merrill to Salem, S. D. about twenty years ago where they have been living since.
