Sadie Mulder was born November 6, 1918 on the family farm near Lebanon, Iowa to Bastian and Marie (Faber) Mulder. She was baptized on December 15, 1918 at the Christian Reformed Church in Lebanon. She attended the Lebanon Christian School. Sadie helped her parents with assisting with the care of her siblings. She later worked for area families before moving to California during World War II. She returned back to Iowa and was later united in marriage to Ervin Lassen on September 5, 1946 in Orange City, Iowa. Sadie and Ervin lived on a farm in Fredonia Township for 40 years. They were blessed with six children. Sadie and Ervin loved to attend their children’s and grandchildren’s school and church activities. She was very devout in her faith and had a long daily prayer list. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for 67 years. She enjoyed participating with the Dorcas Circle for many years.

Sadie was an avid reader, enjoyed writing letters, crossword puzzles and painting. She loved to entertain her large family and meals were usually finished off with a great pie-made with lard, of course. She always enjoyed attending all the music, drama, and athletic events of her children and grandchildren.
